For assemble-it-yourself furniture, this unit is remarkably nice-looking and sturdy. Except for the thin side paneling, the wood is very strong and sturdy. The color is true to the color as it appears on my monitor; a lovely, soft, honey blonde. All of the pre-drilled holes lined up where they were supposed to except for one hole at the top. The top is very sturdy in spite of the fact that I had to leave a screw out of one front corner to put a narrow shim between the the top and the side to raise the top at that corner about 1/16th of an inch. Without this adjustment the drawer would not open and close properly. All the fasteners are standard, run-of-the-mill, every day types of screws and bolts you can buy at any hardware store. A simple Allen wrench is the only driver needed and one comes with the fasteners. The casters wheel freely and seem sturdy enough to last through a fair amount of abuse. Door hinges are pre-attached so all you do is set the "male" posts into the "female" gizmos and your doors are hung. However, there is a 1/4 inch gap between the doors. Not enough to bother replacing the hinges.
The instructions were fairly easy to follow. Every piece comes labeled, so I first laid everything
out to make sure nothing was missing. Nothing was. The pieces, as I recall, were labeled A-O. The only real confusion arouse when I looked for "N" I think it was. There is no "N." And no "N" on the instruction sheet. Perhaps the Thai manufacturers don't know our alphabet too well.
I assembled the piece leisurely while watching a movie and completed the project in 3 hours.
One other snag: There is a paper towel bar attached to the right-hand side. However, it is too short for a standard American paper towel roll. It could be eased as a dish towel bar, but since I didn't want the protrusion on the right hand side, I left it off. The bar itself easily slides out of its braces, so I put the braces in storage and will use the bar as a small rolling pin. [Seriously, the shape and size make it perfect for that.
I use the cart as a microwave cart. I put the adjustable shelf in storage and a kitchen garbage can inside the cabinet. All in all, a practical, attractive unit I would recommend to any one looking for a roll-around kitchen cart.
