(More customer reviews)I purchased this for our new cat to keep her warm during the winter nights but I don't think it's what I was looking for. It just doesn't hold heat long enough. I warmed it up at about 9:30 pm (it doesn't get squishy, the stuff inside goes form rock hard to liquid, nothing in between)and placed it under a towel that was folded into fourths length-wise in the hope that it would be more comfortable and maybe stay warm and soft a little longer. At 7:00 in the morning it had hardened and I could just barely feel the slightest amount of heat when I put my hand directly on it. The cat loves it when it's warm, I just wish it had lasted longer. It's also not big enough, you'd need two to make a full platform for the cat.

Its exellent as far as the power output & not having to wait two or four whole minutes for leftovers to warm or to knock the chill off a dinner that got cold too fast. Compared to my new Emerson microwave I purchased three weeks ago (that was allegedly 1100 wats but warms food like it was 110) this model warms your food faster & thuroughly. My complaint is that this is model needs a better handle. If you are not careful & dont take care to pull the door open by the middle part of the handle it will snap off! I had gotten a replacement from target because this happened after having it a little under a month. I got a different model. True it dont push enough power but at least the handle is not so thin & made of cheap plastic. What use is a microwave if the handle breaks off and the handle is the ONLY way to open it(it has no square button to pop the door open!) Overall if you are in desperate need for a microwave ASAP then this will do for the time being but get it from Target, they sold this for 49.99! At least if the handle breaks clean off like mine did you wont be so pissed you paid over $100 for it. They made this mostly for the fancy sleek look of it but they ignored the possibility of the hadle not holding up.

(More customer reviews)This is a great microwave and I really like the features. Having said that I think a person could get a similar microwave for much less money. Prior to purchasing this I wondered what the steamer and sizzler was as there was not much information on these features. Turns out they are just a special dish. These two features certainly do not justify the several hundred dollars more than a typical microwave/convection. I have had the microwave three months now and have not even used either of the "special" vessels. The fan works very well and is very powerful. It stays on all the time during convection and sounds similar to a small jet airplane. Works great and it sounds like it should the socks off your feet. Overall I like the microwave/convection but would have bought a less expensive model knowing what I do now.
Just updating my review of this product. After a few months, the fan started vibrating producing an annoying noise. I wedged piece of wood next to the fan shroud to keep it from vibrating. Also wanted to note that November of 08 this microwave went out and no longer works. I am very disappointed in this product. I would also like to note that we are now using our nearly 30 year old Sharp microwave convection. We will be replacing the Whirlpool with a Kenmore or Sharp microwave/convection. Whirlpool products will not be part of my home in the future.

(More customer reviews)I wanted a coffee press or a 'plunger,' as they call it in Australia, as a backup for our regular drip coffee maker. Living in a rural area, we tend to lose power several times each winter, and vowed not to chew the grinds in 'camp coffee' every time. Of all the models, I chose this one for it's attractive, whimsical design, and protection over the glass beaker. The body exterior is rubber and clear plastic, which protects the removable and replaceable glass vessel within. The handle is sturdy. The plastic top cover feels a bit flimsy, but seems fine, since it doesn't do any hard labor. The plunger itself works as well as any other I've used (belonging to others). A bonus that I didn't expect, is the extra insulation the outer skin provides, keeping the coffee hot for a lot longer than a naked glass pot.

(More customer reviews)Purchased in July 09, I was excited about some of the features of this microwave/convection oven and for the nice look of it above our matching regular oven. The microwave part does a good job heating evenly, popping popcorn, etc. I do not use a microwave for cooking (I believe it kills the nutrients in the food), so I love that this has a traditional convection cook setting. The microwave, for me, is primarily used for reheating the occasional leftovers, coffee, etc. I have used the 'crisp' feature several times and it is just ok. It takes a long time and is a little more hassle than just using the broiler or toaster since you have to preheat the crisping pan before you use the feature. You don't have to keep as close an eye on it as a broiler, though, since it shuts off after the programmed amount of time. The convection portion cooks nicely, although I have not used it as much as I'd like. I'm hoping to use it more to save energy by not having to heat the entire cavity of the regular oven. It's perfect for that small batch of cookies or side dish that cooks at a different temp than the rest of dinner.
Here are some of the drawbacks: the crisp element on the top of the microwave makes it much more difficult to clean if there were to be any splatters. Be sure to keep everything covered (sometimes difficult with kids around!). I was worried that the door opening forward would bother me, and it did take a few days - and one spilled cup of coffee - to get used to, but otherwise it has not bothered me. If you were shorter in stature or had weak arms (such as someone elderly that had bad shoulder joints or something), this might not be the best set up for you as pans do feel heavier and are more cumbersome coming out at shoulder height than they do from the regular oven. The other thing to keep in mind is that this requires 220 (like a regular oven), not a regular outlet. If you had a wall oven with a microwave above it, like we did, you will have to rewire.
Overall, I do like the look and the way it cooks, but I'm not sure if I'd spend the extra money and hassle or rewiring for this if I had to do it over again.

It was built into a cabinet so we were happy to find this model which had the same dimensions and features. The first one we received had a dent in the side panel and the feet were not level. We sent that one back and asked for a replacement(very good service from Amazon). The second one again was not quite "square" and the door was slightly crooked. We decided not to send this one back and attributed the defects to poor workmanship. The door does not feel as solid as the old one and this new one in general seems to be poorly made. Let's see if this will last for ten years.

(More customer reviews)We had a GE over-the-range microwave, which worked fine until the cheap plastic door handle cracked and broke. This was a serious problem, because you can't open the door when the handle breaks off. When we tried to replace the handle, we were told you can't just replace it, you have to replace the entire door assembly, which cost hundreds of dollars and requires a service call. So we bought a new microwave. The sales person persuaded us to get another GE and told us that our door handle problem was a fluke. Lo and behold, after only a few months, this door handle broke, too! Fortunately, this one is still under warranty, but it makes you wonder a) if the quality control is slipshod and b) if they insist on using a cheap, brittle plastic for the handle, why they can't design it to replace the el cheapo part without buying an entire new door.

(More customer reviews)Our GE microwave had given us some problems since we moved into this new home so we were looking for another model this go round. One of the features my wife wanted was the warm setting which this model has. We are still getting used to the keypad layout but it sure is great having a microwave again. The fan runs whenever you turn it on so this is a little louder but not a big deal (maybe they all do this and we just hadn't noticed). I installed this myself and by following the instructions got it in place the first time without any further adjustments. If you do install yourself, I put some plywood over the stove, and used a combination of a jack and 2x4's and odd pieces of wood to put this in place, using leverage instead of my back. I can see where someone could get hurt during the installation, and since I did it with the help of my wife to balance things at times, it would have been impossible otherwise.
Good features and quality, I would highly recommend this unit at this juncture - about 1 month into ownership.

(More customer reviews)These prep bowls are absolutely wonderful. I like them because they have lids, so I can prepare ingredients hours before I am actually going to finish working on the recipe. This is essential for me with two very active and demanding toddlers running around. I also like the sizes that these come in, they are very convenient. It is also nice that they are nested for easy storage. I make homemade bread and the 4 cup size is the one I use most for measuring the flour. It is also handy for measuring the chocolate chips for fudge and other delicious holiday treats. These prep bowls are hard to find, so buy them now while you can.
I only wish that they were easier to dry and towel off, especially the lids. I usually have to leave them on the counter or dish drainer to dry off for a while after they come out of the dishwasher. This small inconvenience did not warrant a subtraction in the stars, so I still awarded these essential prep bowls 5 stars. In fact, I think I am going to buy two more sets.

GE JX81D Recirculating Charcoal Filter Review

(More customer reviews)I don't have an outside exhaust on the vent above my stove. The old vent had only grease filters while the new GE vent also has room for a charcoal filter. Great idea, but the filter is tough to find. Good thing Amazon has a partner that sells this thing. Also, it is pricey for a simple charcoal filter, but it was expensive everywhere else i looked, so the vendor was not overly high priced.
