(More customer reviews)This is the second time that I have had to replace this handle on my GE over-the-counter microwave. It is a poor design in that it fits into the door with cylindrical nipples tapped for screws that go through the door from the inside. The screws penetrate only as far as the depth of the nipple, and stress on the nipple (especially the bottom one) from repeated opening of the door causes it to break off. A longer screw design, one that would penetrate further into the handle would help, I believe. Also, this time around, when the bottom nipple broke (as it did the first time around), I fashioned a longer screw from stock hardware in my workroom and also stuck a piece of strong double-stick pliable tape to each of the flat ridges just inside each nipple, and REVERSED the broken handle so that the good nipple would be on the bottom, where more stress is applied. The tape helped the handle adhere to the door and relieved some of the stress on the nipples. So far, this fix has held well for several days. In the meantime, my new replacement handle arrived today, and I will wait until the mended one breaks before installing this new one.
So, I rate this 5 stars because it fits, and it is the only replacement available. Also, because the vendor's price was the lowest that I could find anywhere, and the shipment was fast. On the other hand, I would rate it only 2 stars AT MOST for its poor design and resultantly poor durability.
